Hoi An Fishing

Hoi An is a small city located on the central coast of Vietnam, and Ancient Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was a former port location, which resulted in a wonderful mix of cultures and architectural styles. A visit to Hoi An is inspiring – it was the most relaxing place in Vietnam.

Where To Stay
Hoi An offers travelers the best of it all, with accommodations available at the beach or in the center of the city. Types of accommodations range from hostels to resort-style complexes on the beach. Ancient Town has a lively atmosphere, and it is within walking distance to most of the attractions in the city. It is also the area where backpackers tend to hang around because of its vibe, fantastic accommodation prices and central location.

What To Do

  • Japanese Covered Bridge
An icon to Hoi An and Vietnam alike, the Japanese Covered Bridge is the only covered bridge attached to a Buddhist temple. The bridge dates back to the 18th century and is a beautiful example of Japanese architecture.

  • Cruise the River
Hiring a local to take you down the river supports the local economy, and it allows visitors to see the historic area from a different perspective. One hour rides started at around 2,000 VND (hard to deny).
  • Hit the Markets
The ancient town of Hoi An is filled with markets and shops. You can find fresh vegetables and fruits, textiles, unique house décor, local snacks, and lanterns galore in this city! Some of the best bargains I got while traveling in Asia was in Hoi An!
