Da Nang

Da Nang is a port city located on the coast of central Vietnam, and due to its sandy beaches and rich French colonial history, it is is emerging in popularity with travelers. The city has put up an elaborate display of design with its bridges – Da Nang even has a dragon-shaped bridge that breathes fire!

Where To Stay
Da Nang is a city separated by water (hence the awesome bridges) into two areas: the beach and the city. There are many accommodations available to choose from in both areas. The areas are not walking distance from each other, but public transportation and taxis provide service between the two. When I was in Da Nang, I stayed by the beach, but I wish I stayed in the lively city center. The city center has such a young and upbeat vibe to it.

What To Do

  • Head to the Beach
Da Nang is famous for its white sand beaches located along the warm coast of central Vietnam. Take advantage of nature’s beauty and enjoy a relaxing day on the beach.
  • Marble Mountains
Located just 9km south of the center of Da Nang, the Marble Mountains are one of Vietnam’s most famous attractions. The Marble Mountains are five picturesque marble limestone mountains named after the five elements of nature (earth, fire, metal, water, wood). They all have caves and tunnels, and it is even possible for active climbers to climb to the top of one of them.
  • Dragon Bridge
Dragon Bridge is a colorful, creative spectacle of bridge design. The bridge connects the city to the beach and crosses the Hàn River. Every Saturday evening at 21:00 the bridge traffic is closed while the dragon breathes fire.
